TOTEM
As a sculptural reminiscence of the Mayan culture, which aims to simulate the stepped gemoetria of the archaeological culture of Tulum, the Water Front Pavilion is located over the sea, like a solid and artistic “Totem”, with movements on its faces and offsets on its body, characteristics of the ancient culture of Tulum.
The Totem will become, by itself, a sculptural space that can be visited in its entirety and a milestone along the way for thousands of tourists who walk along the beaches of the entire Riviera Maya. It will also become the focal point of an “Eco Park”, made up of docks that surround the pavilion and will turn the beach into a “large community pool” experience for residents and tourists of the beaches of Tulum.
The main strategy of the project was to integrate the requested program as much as possible with the maximum length of the beach and act with acuity to be able to wander through the natural wealth of the flora and fauna of the site, affecting as little as possible. A 130 m rectangular dock will be planned. x 230 m, facing north and with variable height to slide flush with the beach and turn it into a “Big Pool”.
